What is Gupt Godavari in Chitrakoot?

Gupt Godavari is a pair of caves, namely the smaller and the larger cave, situated in the Chitrakoot region of Madhya Pradesh, India. It’s a popular tourist destination known for its religious and historical significance. It is believed that Lord Ram and his brother Lakshman held a secret meeting with Bharat in these caves, hence the name ‘Gupt’ meaning secret and ‘Godavari’ signifying the river that supposedly flows through these caves.
