What other attractions can be explored near Kamtanath Temple?

Chitrakoot is one of the richest concentrations of Ramayana-linked sites in India, and the Kamtanath Temple's position at the Kamadgiri Parikrama makes it the natural hub from which to explore all of them.

Ram Ghat (within Chitrakoot town, 1 km from Kamadgiri): The main ghat on the Mandakini River, where Lord Rama is believed to have bathed. Aarti is performed here every evening by priests in decorated boats on the river. The ghat is the most visually memorable spot in Chitrakoot — arrive for the evening aarti if possible.

Hanuman Dhara (3 km from Ram Ghat): A natural spring on a hillside, believed to have been created by Lord Rama to cool Hanuman after he set Lanka on fire. The climb involves roughly 360 stone steps and takes about 20–30 minutes. The views from the top over the forests and the Mandakini valley are rewarding.

Janki Kund (2 km from Ram Ghat): A serene ghat on the Mandakini where Goddess Sita is said to have bathed during the exile. The footprints of Sita in stone are preserved here. More peaceful than Ram Ghat, particularly in the mornings.

Sphatik Shila (between Ram Ghat and Janki Kund): A flat rock on the riverbank where Rama and Sita rested. A small shrine marks the spot.

Gupt Godavari (18 km from Chitrakoot town): Twin caves with an underground river flowing through them. The caves are believed to be where Rama held court while in Chitrakoot. More of an excursion than a local walk, but well worth it — allow 2 hours for the visit.

Sati Anusuya Ashram (16 km): The forest hermitage of the sage couple Atri and Anusuya. Set in deeper forest, quieter and more meditative than the main ghats.
